“Bounce” means something like “to bounce off”. So when you email recipients, it can happen that it is not accepted by the receiving server. The server gives JUNE feedback that the email could not be delivered, and we show you the metrics. Bounces are divided into hard and soft bounces.

💡 It's important to process bounces properly and remove them from the recipient list, otherwise the receiving servers will have a reasonable assumption that your campaign is spam.

It also keeps the recipient list clean so that your campaign is not sent to recipients who cannot possibly read it and manipulate your conversion rates.

Hard Bounces

Hard bounces always have a permanent reason. It may therefore be that the email address used no longer exists. The recipients classified as hard bounces are automatically blacklisted by JUNE, where they can be viewed and manually deleted.

Soft Bounces

Soft bounces have a temporary reason. One of the most common reasons is a full mailbox. So it makes no sense to remove the soft bounces directly from your mail list. The recipients classified as soft bounces are automatically excluded from the recipient list by JUNE for an increasing time. When the first soft bounce occurs, sending will be paused for one week. When the next mailing bounces again, the subscriber will be suspended for 2 weeks and then steadily longer.

You can see the current statistics of paused recipients in the recipient list under the “Paused Until” field.

Bounce Metrics

You can display the total number of bounces per sent campaign. To do this, go to Campaigns in the left sidebar, select the desired campaign that has already been sent and use this screenshot as a guide:
