Set Up & Send An Automated Email Campaign

Necessary steps in advance

You can create an email campaign at any time. However, in order to send it, the following steps must be completed beforehand:

  • Create a recipient list

  • If necessary, set up the desired segmentation

  • Create/select an email template suitable for a recurring campaign: In most cases, the email template should contain dynamic elements that are exchanged before sending, so that the recurring campaign sends constantly changing content to the recipients.

Setup

Once you have completed the steps above, you can now create a recurring email campaign and have it sent automatically. Follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Campaigns in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Automated Campaigns in the top tabs.

  3. Click Create Email Campaign Template in the upper right corner.

Setup – Step 1/3

  1. Set campaign name (internal name)

  2. Select recipient list (to whom should the campaign be sent?)

  3. Select segment (should the recipient list be filtered even further?)
πŸ’‘ The number of recipients is displayed as a control value.

  4. Add tags (so you can assign the campaign to filter your campaign overview by tags at a later time)

  5. Activate pre-actions if desired

πŸ’‘ If you activate this switch, an intermediate step opens in which you can define pre-actions to automatically and dynamically update the content of the campaign before sending

Content – Step 2/3

  1. If desired: Activate A/B testing (after activation, you can jump back and forth between the 2 tabs and edit the individual information of the variants).

  2. Subject: This is the email subject that will be displayed to your recipients.)

  3. Sender information: What name and email address do you want to send under?

  4. Reply information: To which name and e-mail address should your recipients be able to reply? You can also choose a completely custom email address that is not registered under your domain.

  5. Choose a template or draft; or insert your HTML to define the content of the email - you can of course still edit the template/draft.

πŸ’‘ You can edit the email using the Edit button. Alternatively, you can click on Emails in the left sidebar and see all the emails you can edit with one click.

Important: If you have activated A/B testing, you must also make the settings for the 2nd step in the other variant as required.

Send – Step 3/3

In the last step you get a preview & summary and can control the tracking and shipping:

Tracking

  1. Track opens: Do you want to track who opened the email?

  2. Track clicks: Do you want to track who clicked on a link in the email?

  3. Track website activity: If your website was linked to in the email, you can continue to track your users' activity after they open the website link to better analyze their behavior.

Sending

  1. Minimum sending duration: Over what period of time should the campaign be shipped? This setting helps to save the server, for example, if a large sale is sent and there is a risk that the online store will be overloaded by the simultaneous opening.

  2. Send test: A modal opens in which you can select individual recipients to whom a test run should be sent.

  3. Automated sending: Use the switch to activate automatic dispatch.

  4. Schedule sending in: Defines the time period after the automatic creation of the campaign and the sending.
Example: With the sending interval of Daily 9 am and a lead time of 1 hr. the campaign is visible in the campaign overview at 9 am and can still be edited and will be sent at 10 am.

  5. Sending interval: At what interval should the recurring campaign be dispatched?

  6. Click Validate and Save to save the changes and start the dispatch interval.

The campaign is sent at the desired time after the sending settings are completed. As long as the sending is not completed, Scheduled or Sending is displayed in the campaign overview.

  2. Click Automated Campaigns in the top tabs.

  3. Click on the campaign you want to delete.

  5. Confirm that you really want to delete the selected campaign.
