Pre-actions in Email Campaigns

Pre-actions are pre-campaign automation steps that are executed immediately before an email campaign is sent. They ensure that both the recipient list and the campaign’s dynamic content are up to date without requiring manual intervention.

When are pre-actions used?

Pre-actions are useful when you want to ensure that:

  • Recipient data is up to date
For example, newly imported customers from Shopify or HubSpot should be included in the campaign

  • Dynamic content is updated
For example, product feeds, price lists, or personalized content

  • Data from external sources is synchronized
For example, from a CRM, a shop system, or a CSV file

How to enable pre-actions

  1. Open your email campaign.

  2. Toggle the Pre-Actions switch.

  3. An intermediate step will open where you can define one or more pre-actions.

  4. Select the desired pre-action and configure it.

Available Pre-Actions

Depending on the connected systems, various pre-actions are available to you:

Daten-Import

  • CSV – Feed Import / CSV – Import (FTP/HTTP)

  • JSON – Import / INTERNAL – JSON-LD Import

  • Facebook – Feed Import / Facebook – Import & Persist

  • Instagram – Feed Import / Instagram – Tagged Content / Instagram – Hashtag Search

  • Google Shopping – Feed Import

Note

Pre-actions are executed sequentially before the campaign is sent. Allow plenty of time, as large imports (e.g., large customer lists from Shopify) can delay the start of the send.
